UPDATE 09/10/20: this event has been rescheduled to Fri Sep 18. Updates below:

Friday, September 18, 2020 from 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Mabry-Hazen House invites you to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment with a historic dinner inspired by recipes written by suffragists. Drawing on historic suffragist cookbooks, period recipes, and locally-sourced ingredients, Mabry-Hazen House and Chef Jessica Hammond of Sister South Fine Foods have partnered to craft a four course dinner that exhibits the tastes and history of the women’s suffragist movement. This dinner blends a unique eating with learning for a tasteful historic evening. Leveraging their domestic roles, women peppered the cookbooks with propaganda for the fight to get the right to vote. Each course was directly inspired by recipes from suffragist cookbooks first published from 1886 until ratification in 1920. And each course will be used to tell the history of the women’s suffrage movement through food. Patrick Hollis, Executive Director, will guide diners to important people, places, events, and foods of the Great Cause between each course to how “good cooking and sure voting went hand in hand”

Mabry-Hazen House is committed to making this event as safe as possible for all involved. Dinner will occur outside and tables spaced to allow for six feet distance between groups. Masks are required to be worn whenever you are not seated at your table. Each group will have an individual table and tables are limited to 8 people.
