Bijou Theatre: Banff Mountain Film Festival

The annual collection of mountain-focused outdoor adventure documentaries. Each night features a different program, with some films emphasizing amazing vistas and physical feats, while others focus on environmental protection and preservation. The festival is sponsored by the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Alberta, Canada.

UTK's Creative Writing MFA Program presents Chiasmus Reading Series and Open Mic!

The next installment of this program will take place on Monday, March 25th at 6:00 pm.

We also invite anyone interested to read after our featured writers for a 5-minute slot during the Open Mic portion. O'Connor Senior Center: Artist Trading Card Meeting

The O’Connor Senior Center will host a regular monthly Artist Trading Card meeting on Monday, March 25th from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Knoxville. This meeting is free and open to anyone interested in making and trading ATCs. Refreshments will be served.

March program: Stamping and printing techniques are a quick and easy way to begin an ATC with fabulous results! Margaret Sidenstick is a Design Team member and artist at Scrappin’ In the City, a scrapbooking and creative resource in Knoxville. Margaret will lead participants through a stamping and printing exercise that will lead to ATCs and other applications.

No art experience is required. The goal is to have fun, create something and connect with others by trading and sharing cards. History and background of ATCs, instruction, materials, prompts and creative ideas will be provided by Tim Wiegenstein, Creative Aging Teaching Artist. No age requirements apply for this program; ATCs are for any age, and intergenerational events are encouraged.

Appalachian Arts Craft Center: Student Art Show

The Appalachian Arts Craft Center will be conducting a Student Art Show on Thursday, March 21 from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM. The Student Art Show will feature artwork recently created by students in the 6-week AACC Homeschool Club. Light refreshments will be available. This event is free and open to the public. The Student Art Show will be on exhibit until March 31.

Maker Exchange: 2nd Annual Mural Workshop Murals

Mural Workshop: Six new murals are now on display in the Curio at Maker Exchange as a part of the 2nd Annual Mural Workshop hosted by Dogwood Arts and professional muralist Megan Lingerfelt. Six local/regional artists were selected to participate in the workshop — with each one designing and painting an 8x8ft mural over the last two weeks. The murals will remain on display through the end of May 2024.

Dogwood Arts: Synergy Student & Art Educator Exhibition

The Dogwood Arts Synergy Exhibition showcases artwork by gifted K-12 art students alongside their art educators in an exhibition at the Clayton Center for the Arts in Maryville! See the results of the artistic student-teacher synergy that happens every day in our schools. Awards and scholarships are presented to encourage further development of these art students’ artistic aptitude.

A Closing Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held at the Clayton Center for the Arts (502 East Lamar Alexander Parkway, Maryville, TN 37804) on March 28th from 5:30-7:30PM. Awards will be presented at 6:30pm. All artists, families, and friends are encouraged to attend this wonderful celebration!
