Friday Night at The Concourse: The Fine Colombians: A Steely Dan Tribute

  • July 15, 2022

Category: Culinary arts, food and Music

Presented by Bluegill Productions - Friday nights include

July 15 - The Fine Colombians: A Steely Dan Tribute
There's just something about the music of Steely Dan, and The Fine Colombians perform it so well! Rolling Stone magazine called Steely Dan "the perfect musical antiheroes for the Seventies." We're not really sure what that means, but we do know that even to this day, long after they broke up in 1981, the music of Steely Dan remains iconic and instantly recognizable with its blend of jazz, traditional pop, and R&B with cryptic and ironic lyrics. The music is also complex enough to intimidate most bands from attempting to perform it. With a great horn section, the "Babylon Sisters" back up singers, and "Dr. K" on piano and lead vocals, The Fine Colombians are sure to make the night a beautiful thing.

Karen Hardin & Allow Me Catering will be serving food.

Doors open for this event at 5:30PM, and the show begins at 6:30. Tickets are $13.20 in Advance (including service fee) and $15 at the Door. For Advance tickets - concourseknox.com

July 22 - Hurricane Ruth
July 29 - The Streamliners Swing Orchestra
August 5 - Stacy Mitchhart Band
August 12 - "Pardi Gras!" with Roux Du Bayou Cajun Band

Oak Ridge Art Center: The Fabric of Memory

Category: Exhibitions, visual art, Fine Crafts and Free event

Memories are the fabric of our lives. Our experiences are woven together on the warp of time to create a tapestry of meaning: sometimes coming together to form a clear picture in one’s mind; sometimes waiting to be resolved, or unraveling. For some, fabric can hold memories – your grandmother’s quilt, the dress you wore to prom, the baby booties you knit for your first child, even the wine stain on your best tablecloth. Each represents a memory spun into the fabric of one’s life.
