The Tennessee Theatre is pleased to announce that Marc Nelson Denim is hosting a special fundraiser, Tattoos & Denim, for the Tennessee Theatre at Cocoa Moon on Market Square! For every pair purchased, Marc Nelson Denim will donate a portion of sales to the Tennessee Theatre. Life 101, A New Series for Teens: Knox County Library

Riding a bike is all fun and games until someone gets a flat. Knox County Public Library is pleased to introduce a new series called Life 101 to help teens develop some practical skills, including bike maintenance. Life 101 will be held at Lawson McGhee Library on Saturdays at 2:00 pm. It's aim is to teach teenagers some important life skills for their future. The programs are free and open to all area teens. No reservation required.

March 29: Financial literacy
Led by Paul Fain (CFP President, Asset Planning Corporation) this workshop will introduce teens to some important concepts and tools needed to become a financially empowered young adult.

Come join the KBGA staff and learn how to start your own vegetable garden. In this hands-on class, we will cover the basics of garden planning, soil nourishment, plant types, and year-round growing. You will leave with a packet of gardening guides, simple steps for improving the soil in your yar, and the knowledge and wisdom for growing in your own backyard or balcony. We will spend some of our time outdoors, so please dress appropriately. Cost: Free for Members, $10.00 for NonMembers.

Appalachian Arts Craft Center: 26th Annual Spring Benefit

The Appalachian Arts Craft Center in Norris will hold its 26th Annual Spring Benefit, A Celebration of Food and Art, on March 29th from 5:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m. at the Norris Community Building, 20 Chestnut Drive, Norris, TN. Tickets are $20. You may purchase your tickets in advance at the Center or at the door.

A covered dish dinner, drinks and desserts will be provided. There will be a silent auction including Artist works, baskets of baked goods, food related gift certificates, guided wild flower tour, pizza party, and more. Live music will be provided by The Tuesday Group that plays on Mondays, The Tenos, and the Back Row Boys. The Tuesday Group that plays on Mondays consists of members from the Knoxville Area Dulcimer Club, including Center member Toni Ferguson. The Tenos are a family bluegrass band whose music consists traditional bluegrass, old time, and gospel songs that you will love and enjoy! The Back Row Boys are a group of men who attend the Norris United Methodist Church in Norris. Their music is primarily old hymns, patriotic, and gospel songs usually done a capella. Their voices blend together in a rich vibrant outpouring of the love they have of God and for one another.

The Appalachian Arts Craft Center is a nonprofit center that has been fulfilling its mission by promoting traditional artists and crafts in the East Tennessee area for over 40 years. East Tennessee PBS Appraisal Fair

The public is invited to the East Tennessee PBS Appraisal Fair, Saturday, March 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at McClung Museum. Coordinated by longtime East Tennessee PBS supporter Case Antiques, this appraisal fair pairs attendees with area experts who can estimate what their items are worth. Items guests may consider bringing are pottery, fine and folk art, furniture, textiles, silver, jewelry, rugs, Native American and Civil War items, and rare books.

Appraisals are $10 each, with proceeds from the event benefitting East Tennessee PBS. No reservations are required for the appraisal fair.
A selection of food trucks, including Coast 2 Coast, will be stationed in Circle Park during the appraisal fair.

Free parking is available during both events in Circle Park and adjacent and nearby lots.

University of Tennessee English Department: 21st Annual Young Writers' Institute

The University of Tennessee English Department will offer the 21st annual Young Writers' Institute on Saturday, March 29, 10-3. We teach creative writing workshops in every genre, led by professional writers. There are teacher workshops and student workshops, free lunch and live music at lunch. An open mike ends the day. Teachers can register their students or parents can register their students. It's all free!

UT alumni ready to claim their place in the Knoxville music scene

Baseball will perform at one of the newest venues in Market Square on Saturday, March 29th at 10:00pm. Tickets for this performance will be $3.00. For those 21 and up, there will be an open bar with plenty of locally crafted brews to enjoy along with the music.
Baseball is comprised of many young local musicians, including Nolan Nevels, Julius Blue, Joe Jordan, Chuck Mullican, Clint Mullican, Jonathan Keeney, Thad Brown, and Hunter Deacon. Playing a unique blend of jazz, funk, and soul, their sound is influenced by musical elements of New Orleans, Detroit, and New York, every song resulting in a fresh new product.

Tennessee Children's Dance Ensemble Auditions

For 33 years, the company has served as dancing ambassadors of good-will for our city and state, delighting audiences across the globe and impacting the lives of children worldwide through its "Children Helping Children" initiative. Any child who is a resident of the state of TN, from 8-16 years of age can audition to be a member of the Ensemble, and be a part of the world's only professional Modern Dance Company made up entirely of young people. We constantly seek new talent! Auditions are held several times each year, during which time an independent panel of dance experts review local talent and select new members for the group. Dancers are chosen without regard to race, creed or gender. They should come prepared to show competency in modern dance, ballet and on their ability to learn new techniques presented to the group.
